At long last, Perry Sinacola’s enduring dream is reality– and
then some.
After 30 years in the restaurant business, Sinacola is thrilled that his downtown
Milford eatery, Perriez Milford House Bar and Grill, has evolved into the
kind of establishment that invariably he’s imagined it could be–
a ‘classy casual’ atmosphere with a reputation for quality food
and friendly service.
“My wife, Kris, and I started off with a goal in mind, and it’s
finally come to fruition,” Sinacola said. “We always wanted just
a nice place to come to, and that’s what this is. For me to be operating
this place, it’s unbelievable.”
And there’s no question that Perriez, which underwent extensive rennovations
earlier this year, enjoys a steady customer base as one of Milford’s
favored destinations. Now, to top it all off, Sinacola has received an official
nod of approval from the Huron Valley community. Yesterday, Perriez Milford
House Bar and Grill was named Business of the Year by the Huron Valley Chamber
of Commerce.
“I’m ecstatic. This is the icing on the cake,” Sinacola
said. “Up until this year, it’s been quite a struggle, but now,
the restaurant is where I’ve always wanted it to be. And to be recognized
by local business owners– my peers who understand all the challenges
we face– really is a great feeling.”
Sinacola was just 10 years old when he started working in the family restaurant
business, making pizza from scratch at the Fairgrounds bowling Alley. As a
teenager, he continued to help out in his family’s other restaurant
ventures and began college studies for a degree in culinary arts. Then, one
day, he started to question whether he wanted to make it his life’s
work after all.
I got the feel for working with people and working at restaurants, and I realized
the toll that this hard work could take,” he said. “ I didn’t
know if I wanted to be a lifer.”
Of course, as fate would have it, Sinacola ultimately stayed in the business–
garnering from his family’s restaurants a complete package to set him
on his way toward sucesss. From extensive culinary skills– augmenting
what he learned in college– to the ability to manage and sustain a competent
work crew, his past experience set the stage, indeed, for where he is today.
In fact, Sinacola’s personal life was chartered by the family business,
as well: he met his future wife while she was working at one of his family’s
restaurants. Kris was just 17 at the time. Four years later, they were married.
As Kris Sinacola sees it, her husband couldn’t help but become a restauranteur.
“He was raised in it, it’s always been part of him,” she
said. “And he loves it.”
Sinacola explained that loving the business is a given, since running a prospering
restaurant is a 24 hour, seven day per week commitmment. “It’s
always with you. It’s a part of you. It’s always there.”
“But I have no regrets about that, and I never get tired of it–
it’s a labor of love. And caffeine,” he quipped.
Kris Sinacola added that they are both “grateful to be here in the Milford
community,” and truly appreciate all the support they’ve received
over the years. “Everyone here is good to us,” she said. “We
are so appreciative. And we are very honored to even be nominated as business
of the year– but to actually get that recognition is so cool.”
Both Sinacolas generously credit a tremendous group of dedicated employees–
many of whom have been staffers since Perriez opened 11 years ago– with
helping make the restaurant what it is today, including the recipient of the
Business of the Year award. They also are generous with their support back
into the community, regularly giving to various causes, donating food and
catering service for local organizations and events.
“I just can’t say no,” Sinacola said. “We get great
support from the community– the downtown merchants are unbelievable,
we have a steady stream of clientele, the local government officials are very
easy to work with. This community is a part of me. And I believe part of that
is creating goodwill and giving back. When someone calls, it feels good to
help. I’m honored to help.”
Kris agreed. “And whatever you give, it comes back to you,” she
said. “Many times over.”
Perry and Kris Sinacola have recently delved into another business venture–
purchasing J.B.’s Brighton House with partner Terry Murray. Yet, Sinacola
said, though he has a “new baby,” his presence will still be vary
apparent in Milford. “I’m not going anywhere,” he said.
“I’ve been part of Milford my whole life, and that’s something
that isn’t going to change.”
Perriez Milford House Bar and Grill offers a wide range of dinner entrees,
sandwiches, salads, soups, burgers, chicken, specialty pizzas and more at
the restaurant, which is a totally smoke-free environment, as well as full
liquor service, and walk-up ice cream service. An extensive catering menu
is also available. The restaurant is located at 113 E. Commerce at Main Street.
